Hello Father, How are you? Mother has been very upset and misses you so much! Mother and I went to the prison to see you and get you out of jail but the gaurds wouldn’t let us in. They beat me and mother and I yelled at the Taliban to stop and me and mother left. On my way to the market I saw Mrs. Weera when I was at the market and she moved in with us to help us out.
Mother and Nooria dressed me up like a boy and cut my hair to make me look like a boy using Hossain’s clothes! Then I can go out and sell things and buy groceries for the family until you come back. At first I wasn’t sure about it because I didn’t want to cut my hair but then I did it to help the family. I’ve been going to the market to sell and buy things and I haven’t got caught once!
I sold my red shalwer kameez :I saw a taliban and he asked me to read a letter from his wife and so I did and you’ll never believe this! He cried! I think I’ll read more letters to people now while I sell things at the market.
Please write back to me! I miss you! Will you be out of jail soon? I miss you very much and I hope to see you soon!
From your daughter, Parvana
